Mortgages Advice Offering mortgage advice is additional service. In the vast majority of Estate Agents this is provided by an independent financial advisor (IFA) who generally work for a large insurance backed company. The Estate Agent provides a part time base and will earn a small commission on any products that are sold by the IFA. There are very few Estate Agents that have in-house qualified IFA's as this would require the agent to be IFA registered and accredited. So what is the service? Two personal example may highlight whether there is a service. Both were looking at re-mortgages for capital purposes. Example a) I had a meeting with an IFA at a local agent. The chap was amiable and the information provided was reasonable. The charge to me was very samll. The usual round of paperwork which would take three to fully complete which seemed over the odds. Hence, armed with the suggested provider details I contacted them direct. Agreement in principle took place in 24 hours and the whole process was completed within two weeks after zero cost. Example b) Again a re-mortgage situation. Again there was going to a a fee of c£200. I again contacted the lender direct and to my surprise I was charged absolutely nothing. Hence, two situations where I saved £350, for very little effort. The word effort is key. So long as you are willing to expend a little effort and you know the variables you are working within (i.e. cost, deposit, term etc etc) then there are websites that will provide the latetst deals for all types of mortgages. At mooves the emphasis in on provision of choice, free advice and guiding individuals to the best source of independent information that is available.. There are many websites out there that provide up to the minute mortgage products that cover 90% of the market. Why re-invent the wheel. Here are links to some of the best mortgage websites available. |
